Spoke 2 at European Researchers' Night: exploring green technologies and sustainable industry
Last Friday, Sept. 29th, Spoke 2 - Green technologies and sustainable industry participated with a group of researchers from the University of Turin in the #UNIGHT event, the European Researchers' Night, at the picturesque Giardini Reali in Turin, animating, together with researchers from the other spoke Unito and Polito present, the NODES booth. This evening was an extraordinary opportunity to share our discoveries in the field of green technologies and sustainable industry with an audience consisting of adults and children, no longer just experts in the field.

From biomass to added value: the experiments of Giuseppina Cerrato and Alessia Giordana
At 8 p.m., Giuseppina Cerrato and Alessia Giordana presented the results of their experiments on biomass processing. They showed how it is possible to transform biomass into materials of medium/high added value at the laboratory level. This research related to waste from ACEA Pinerolese at the departmental level featured the expanded contribution of Prof. Cristina Prandi and her research group.
The frontiers of Giovanna Dino's research
The evening continued with a presentation by Giovanna Dino, who explored three fascinating areas of research:
- the production of technosols, an innovative solution to improve soil fertility, with the help of Faten Khelifi, Xinyuan Zhao, Elio Padoan and others;
- recycling of construction and demolition waste, an important step toward reducing inert waste and reusing it, with the help of Marco Casale, Antonio Tazzini, Francesca Gambino and others;
- exploration for extraction of rare earths from quarry dumps, a crucial research area to ensure sustainable supply of essential materials for advanced technologies, involving Xinyuan Zhao, Marco Casale, Faten Khelifi, Elio Padoan.
