The NODES project presented to President Mattarella
The NODES project was presented to President Mattarella during a visit to the University of Valle d'Aosta On the morning of Saturday, September 7th, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, visited the new campus of the University of Valle d’Aosta.   During the visit, the NODES project (which has received funding from the MUR – M4C2 1.5 of PNRR funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU) was presented to him, with a detailed description of the objectives, the seven universities of the Northwest leading it, and the network of collaborations involving both the local ecosystem and the South of Italy. The main themes and activities related to the project were also illustrated.   Professor Marco Alderighi, scientific director and project manager for the University of Valle d’Aosta, highlighted the resources allocated to businesses within the ecosystem and the research activities carried out in the flagship projects in which the University is directly involved: as leader in Spoke 4 – Digital and Sustainable Mountain, and as associate in Spoke 3 – Tourism and Cultural Industry.   Subsequently, during a meeting with the university community, President Mattarella reiterated the importance of mountain territories and the European democracy, stating: “Mountains do not divide, but unite. These meetings, lived together and not in opposition, benefit everyone and lead to growth. This is, after all, the essence of life in Valle d’Aosta. This is the essence of European democracy.”   Professor Alderighi then commented: “The interest that President Mattarella has shown in the NODES ecosystem rewards the professors and technical-administrative staff of this University for their dedication and for the results already achieved, with about two-thirds of the project completed. Together with the other NODES partners, we are making the best use of the resources provided by the European Union for the dual ecological and digital transition.”

Responsible food purchases, food pyramid and fake news: the themes of the Research Night for Spoke 7
The activities, in the framework of Unight and Sharper Night, involved a varied audience between Pavia and Cuneo Bringing research outside the University and bringing it closer to the community is the goal of the Reseacher's Night, an event of dissemination that has been a cornerstone of university activities for many years.   The researchers of Spoke 7 took part in the event in Pavia, the Sharper Night, where the research group of the Food Education and Sports Nutrition Laboratory of the University of Pavia proposed numerous initiatives for a wide audience.   The play activities for girls and boys presented on September 27 were created to explore the theme of seasonality and the food pyramid. Similarly, through a game, you could discover the good and bad habits linked to lifestyle.   For the adult audience, instead, presentations were proposed on various topics: from how to debunk fake news, to reading nutritional labels, up to discovering nutritional strategies to organize meals of everyday life but also out of the home.   At the Unight of Cuneo instead it was the turn of an interactive lesson for High Schools. Here, Professor Milena Viassone of the University of Turin, spoke about "How to build a business strategy: examples from the food and beverage sector" .   "Understanding cultural differences and health awareness in food choices: a theoretical model" was instead the theme chosen for a meeting with citizens, a presentation in which the speaker wanted to explain how culture and health awareness can influence the lifestyles of consumers, also determining responsible food purchases.

Fashion Tuesdays
The University of Insubria, leader of Spoke 3, has organized in collaboration with the Silk Museum of Como a cycle of three conferences entitled: "Fashion Tuesdays". The events, which will be held at the Silk Museum, Via Castelnuovo 9 - Como, will focus on three women active in the fashion world, bearers of messages of female emancipation. Rosa Genoni, Emilie Flöge and Coco Chanel were able to combine the creative role with that of interpreter of women's needs and their desire for emancipation. Their figures will be analyzed during the seminars in the light of the different historical and legal contexts existing in Italy, Austria and France in order to provide a picture of their contribution to the movements for equality that were developing in the first part of the twentieth century. The specific objective is to emphasize, from a historical point of view, the role that women have played in the textile supply chain in order to present three salient figures in the sector, who have combined the creativity of design with that of bearers of new ideals of economic independence and social emancipation at a time when the fight for rights was becoming more bitter. Three stylists were chosen: an Italian, Rosa Genoni, an Austro-Hungarian, Emilie Flöge, and a Frenchwoman, Coco Chanel, to show how the struggles that women workers led in Italy for a decent salary in the textile world were combined with new dictates for the emancipation of bourgeois women in contexts that were also different from ours. The conferences will be held from October 15 to December 17, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Below are the titles of the individual days. October 15, 2024: Rosa Genoni, the inventor of Made in Italy who fought for women's rights November 12, 2024: Emilie Flöge, Klimt's muse and the Reformkleid as a tool for emancipation December 17, 2024: Coco Chanel, the working woman, the shoulder bag and comfortable fabrics To register, fill out the form below link
